ILOILO CITY — Persistent rainfall Monday morning left 14 barangays scattered across five districts underwater, as floodwaters swept through streets and residential communities throughout the city. The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office documented the extent of the inundation, with water levels reaching as high as 12 inches in the most severely affected areas.
According to the CDRRMO's assessment at 11 a.m., the flooding affected multiple barangays as downpours continued to pummel the region. The heavy precipitation overwhelmed drainage systems in low-lying areas, forcing residents to evacuate or seek higher ground as water rose rapidly through residential zones.
Local disaster response teams mobilized to assess damage and assist affected residents. City officials urged residents in flood-prone barangays to remain vigilant as additional rainfall was forecast for the day.
