Heavy rains submerge Balanga City neighborhoods under floodwaters

Balanga City and surrounding villages in Bataan faced significant flooding following a period of heavy rainfall that began Monday afternoon and persisted through Tuesday morning. The downpour left multiple barangays submerged, disrupting daily life for residents across the city's low-lying areas.

Three barangays bore the brunt of the deluge. Puerto Rivas, Sibacan, and Tenejero—the latter among the city's most densely populated communities—remained underwater as of Tuesday with floodwaters measuring between two and three feet deep. The inundation persisted even as rainfall diminished, leaving residents stranded in their homes and hampering movement across affected neighborhoods.

The flooding highlights the recurring challenge faced by Balanga City's lower-elevation communities during periods of sustained rainfall. Such incidents have prompted ongoing concerns about drainage infrastructure and flood mitigation measures in the capital of Bataan.
