Heavy rains trigger landslips in Kerala's Idukki district; two dead

Additionally, authorities have issued restrictions on night travel through hilly areas of the district until conditions improve. The move aims to minimize the risk to commuters and residents who might be caught in dangerous situations during darkness when rescue operations become significantly more difficult.

The collector's directives remain in force until further notice, with officials set to reassess conditions as weather patterns stabilize. The district has experienced similar weather-related incidents in the past during monsoon seasons, prompting periodic closures of tourism-dependent areas and transportation routes in vulnerable zones.
