Heavy traffic snarls Noida Expressway following afternoon downpour

The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway experienced major traffic disruptions Tuesday afternoon as moderate rain left portions of the high-speed corridor waterlogged. The combination of accumulated water on road surfaces and increased vehicular movement during evening peak hours created lengthy queues of stationary and slow-moving traffic across multiple sections of the expressway.

Visuals from the expressway showed vehicles inching forward at considerably reduced speeds, with bumper-to-bumper congestion extending across several kilometres. The waterlogging, attributed to drainage challenges on the road surface, significantly hampered the normal flow of commuter and commercial traffic that typically uses the corridor linking Noida and Greater Noida.

The traffic disruption highlighted ongoing concerns about infrastructure resilience during monsoon conditions in the National Capital Region. Commuters faced extended travel times as authorities worked to manage the congested conditions during the critical evening commute window.

The Delhi-NCR region has experienced intermittent rainfall in recent days as the monsoon season progresses across northern India. Weather officials indicated that additional precipitation remains possible in the coming days, which could pose similar challenges to road infrastructure across the region.
