Helicopter en route to Badrinath goes missing in Uttarakhand

A helicopter bound for Badrinath in Uttarakhand has gone missing, triggering a coordinated search and rescue operation in the state. The aircraft disappeared while traveling to the sacred pilgrimage site in the northern Himalayas, authorities said.

Following the incident, two additional helicopters have been pressed into service to locate the missing aircraft and assist in potential rescue operations. The search efforts have been intensified across the challenging terrain of Uttarakhand, where weather conditions and mountainous geography pose significant obstacles to aerial operations.

The Badrinath temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Hindu tradition, is situated at a high altitude in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Aircraft operations in the region remain vulnerable to sudden weather changes and other environmental factors.

Details regarding the number of people aboard the missing helicopter and the exact time of the incident were not immediately available. Authorities have not released further information about the search operations or the condition of visibility in the area at the time of the helicopter's disappearance.
