VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — At least 31 residents have tested positive for Hepatitis A in Bukidnon, prompting local health authorities to intensify surveillance and containment measures across the affected areas.

According to data released by the City Health Office, the confirmed cases include 26 patients from Barangay Lurugan and five from other locations in the city. The outbreak has triggered a heightened alert status, with health officials closely monitoring an additional 59 individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.

Healthcare teams are conducting epidemiological investigations to identify the source of the infection and trace potential transmission chains. Hepatitis A, a viral infection affecting the liver, spreads primarily through contaminated food and water or close contact with infected individuals.

Local health authorities have urged residents to maintain strict hygiene practices, including handwashing and safe food preparation. Officials are also conducting public awareness campaigns to educate the community about prevention measures and symptoms of the disease, which include jaundice, abdominal pain, and fatigue.

The City Health Office has not yet announced any new restrictions or public health advisories but continues to coordinate with regional health agencies to monitor the situation and prevent further spread of the outbreak.
