KUALA LUMPUR — The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has urged students residing in off-campus rental accommodation to register their addresses with the ministry as part of an enhanced monitoring framework.
The directive comes as the ministry seeks to strengthen its capacity to track and support students living away from campus facilities. By maintaining updated records of student residences, the ministry said it would be better positioned to respond to welfare concerns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
The registration initiative applies to all higher education students in private rental accommodation throughout the country. Authorities emphasized that the data collection exercise is intended to safeguard student welfare and facilitate communication between educational institutions and their off-campus student populations.
The ministry has instructed institutions to coordinate with students to complete the registration process, which includes providing details of their current residential addresses. Officials stated that accurate records would enable more effective monitoring and intervention when necessary.
Students have been advised to complete their registrations promptly through their respective institutions to ensure their details are recorded in the ministry's database.
