Himadri Speciality Chemicals Ltd is charting an aggressive growth strategy centred on capacity expansion and margin improvement to capitalise on India's shift towards clean energy. The company plans to deploy ₹1,125 crore towards lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery materials, ₹248 crore in speciality chemicals, ₹170 crore in super speciality carbon black, and ₹70 crore in carbon nanotubes, according to its latest investor presentation.
The proposed investments comprise a mix of greenfield and brownfield projects aimed at establishing integrated manufacturing capabilities across its portfolio. The expansion roadmap forms part of the company's strategy to build what it describes as the "materials backbone" for energy transition applications, positioning it to benefit from accelerating demand for battery materials and advanced chemicals.
Himadri Speciality Chemicals Chairman and CEO Anurag Choudhary emphasised the company's focus on continuous reinvestment and scaling. The company has committed to completing the majority of these capacity additions by the fourth quarter of the next financial year, enabling it to capture opportunities in electric vehicle battery production and renewable energy storage segments.
The expansion comes as India's battery manufacturing ecosystem gains momentum, with government initiatives supporting domestic production of lithium-ion cells and components. Himadri's investment signals growing confidence in the sector's medium to long-term growth prospects, particularly as automotive manufacturers accelerate electrification plans and energy storage demand rises across industrial and grid applications.
