Hindu priests seek presidential intervention for death row Sri Lankan

The religious organization formally submitted a memorandum to the President's office on Wednesday, urging government intervention in the case of Anojan, who has been sentenced to death in the Gulf kingdom. The appeal represents a coordinated effort by the Hindu clergy to bring international diplomatic pressure to bear on the matter.
According to the association, the memorandum was presented by its General Secretary, along with representatives of the faith community. The submission underscores growing concern among religious groups in Sri Lanka regarding the fate of their countryman abroad.
The case has drawn attention from multiple quarters within Sri Lanka's religious and civil society sectors, with calls for diplomatic channels to be activated at the highest levels of government. Officials have not yet publicly responded to the association's petition.
