Hindu scriptures describe predictions for end of Kali Yuga epoch

Hindu puranic traditions contain detailed accounts of what religious scholars describe as the concluding stage of the Kali Yuga, the current cosmic age in Hindu cosmology. According to these ancient texts, this final epoch will be marked by significant changes to human existence and moral order on Earth.

Puranic literature suggests that in the terminal phase of Kali Yuga, human lifespan will diminish substantially, with individuals living only around 20 years on average. Simultaneously, religious scholars interpret these texts as predicting a near-total erosion of dharma, or righteousness, as societal values deteriorate and adherence to spiritual principles declines among the population.

These prophecies describe a period characterized by widespread adharma, or lawlessness and unrighteousness. According to Hindu theological interpretations, it is during this critical juncture of profound moral and social decay that believers expect the manifestation of Kalki, whom Hindu texts identify as the tenth and final avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Scholars of Hindu philosophy note that the Kalki avatar is traditionally described as an instrument of divine intervention, appearing to restore cosmic order and initiate a new cycle of creation. The timeline for these prophesied events remains a subject of ongoing interpretation among religious scholars and theologians studying Hindu sacred literature.
