Hindustan Copper Limited is considering a capital mobilization initiative worth Rs 500 crore through non-convertible debentures (NCDs) and other permitted instruments, according to an official announcement. The fundraising exercise is designed to bolster the company's financial position and support operational requirements.

Beyond the NCD route, the mining company is evaluating alternative methods for capital augmentation, including qualified institutional placements (QIPs) and other regulatory-compliant mechanisms. The proposed issuance could encompass up to 9.7 crore equity shares or securities carrying the option to convert into equity shares, providing flexibility in structuring the fundraise.

The announcement indicates that the company's board will formally consider and deliberate on the capital-raising proposal in the coming period. Such fundraising initiatives are common among state-owned enterprises seeking to enhance liquidity and finance expansion or modernization initiatives across their operational portfolio.

Hindustan Copper, a major domestic producer of the red metal, has been focusing on operational efficiency and strategic capital deployment to maintain its competitive position in the sector. The proposed fundraise underscores the company's proactive approach toward meeting its medium-term financial and investment objectives.
