Hindustan Zinc's profit surges on strong metal prices and output gains

Hindustan Zinc reported a sharp turnaround in quarterly earnings as it capitalised on robust demand and pricing for zinc and silver in global markets. The diversified miner's net profit surge to Rs 6,412 crore represented a more than twofold increase, marking a significant performance improvement from the preceding period.

The company's financial results were underpinned by three key operational metrics. Zinc and silver prices remained elevated during the quarter, supporting realisation levels. Simultaneously, Hindustan Zinc ramped up production volumes, demonstrating improved operational execution across its mining and smelting operations. The company also achieved cost reductions in zinc production, enhancing margins and profitability.

Revenue from operations climbed sharply to Rs 6,412 crore, reflecting the combined impact of higher sales volumes and improved pricing. The 76.5 per cent increase in operational revenue indicates strong demand for the company's products in both domestic and international markets.

Hindustan Zinc, India's largest zinc producer and a major global player, derives earnings from mining and processing zinc, lead, silver and other precious metals. The company's performance reflects favourable commodity market conditions and effective cost management during the quarter.
