Ho Chi Minh City accelerates metro link to Long Thanh Airport

The government has given local officials the green light to prioritize the extension of the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line to Long Thanh Airport, marking a significant step in improving ground transportation connectivity for the country's newest major aviation facility. The accelerated timeline aligns with Long Thanh's planned inauguration before year-end, positioning the metro link as a critical piece of infrastructure for the airport's operations. The extension project represents one of Vietnam's most ambitious rapid transit undertakings, designed to facilitate passenger movement between Ho Chi Minh City's central business district and the airport situated approximately 45 kilometers to the northeast. Officials have emphasized the urgency of completing the link to ensure seamless transportation access when Long Thanh begins commercial operations. The metro extension is expected to significantly enhance connectivity for both international and domestic travelers, reducing reliance on road transport and easing congestion on existing highways serving the airport.
