The megacity announced the slate of approved projects on October 28 at the Autumn Economic Forum 2026, granting investment policy approvals and registration certificates totaling 337.22 trillion VND. The initiative reflects Ho Chi Minh City's strategy to court international investors and accelerate economic development across multiple strategic sectors.
The investment approvals underscore the city's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure while simultaneously diversifying revenue streams. Officials have prioritized transport infrastructure development, signaling opportunities for private sector participation in alleviating the congestion that has long hampered the city's growth.
Beyond physical infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City has launched three digital transformation models aimed at enhancing public service delivery. These initiatives position the city as an emerging hub for technology investment and smart-city solutions in Southeast Asia.
The push for foreign investment comes as Vietnam seeks to maintain momentum in attracting multinational enterprises amid evolving regional supply chains. Ho Chi Minh City, home to over 9 million residents and serving as the nation's primary commercial center, remains a magnet for investors seeking exposure to Southeast Asia's largest economy.
