Ho Chi Minh City opens door to private transport infrastructure investment

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is currently gathering public feedback on a draft resolution designed to attract private capital for transport infrastructure projects. The initiative aims to implement provisions under Article 14 of the Urban Development Law, which was enacted to facilitate private sector involvement in urban development.

The proposed framework would establish mechanisms and financial incentives to mobilize resources from private investors for constructing and upgrading transport networks across the city. Officials view private investment as crucial to meeting the capital's growing infrastructure demands as it continues to expand economically.

The resolution represents part of Ho Chi Minh City's broader strategy to accelerate major infrastructure developments, particularly metro connections to airports and key transport hubs. By engaging private investors, the city aims to supplement public funding and accelerate project timelines.

The consultation period allows stakeholders to submit comments before authorities finalize the resolution. Once approved, the framework is expected to unlock significant private funding for transport modernization across Vietnam's largest metropolitan area.
