Ho Chi Minh City's Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) has demonstrated consistent upward momentum in global financial centres assessments, marking a notable achievement for the country's economic ambitions. The city first appeared in the Global Financial Centres Index in 2022 at 102nd place, before advancing through successive rankings in subsequent years.
The fintech sector has emerged as a standout performer for the financial centre. VIFC now ranks 71st globally in fintech capabilities with a score of 645 points, representing a 12-position improvement over the previous assessment period. This advancement reflects growing technological infrastructure and innovation capacity within Vietnam's financial services ecosystem.
Experts have identified legal transparency and regulatory clarity as critical factors in further elevating VIFC's international profile. Strengthening these institutional foundations would enhance the centre's attractiveness to international investors and facilitate greater capital inflows into Vietnam's economy.
The financial centre's rising trajectory points to expanding opportunities for attracting foreign direct investment across multiple sectors. As VIFC continues to develop its competitive advantages, stakeholders are positioning the hub as a gateway for channelling international capital into Southeast Asia's broader economic growth corridor.
