Ho Chi Minh City surges in global financial centres rankings

Ho Chi Minh City has strengthened its position among the world's leading financial hubs, jumping 17 places to rank 67th in the 2026 Global Financial Centres Index. The improvement marks a significant acceleration in the city's financial profile, with the metropolis gaining 28 positions across two 2026 editions of the index.

The surge in rankings signals investor confidence in Vietnam's financial sector and the economic potential of the country's largest commercial centre. Industry officials attribute the progress to the Vietnam International Financial Centre's comprehensive platform, which offers diverse opportunities to attract foreign capital and establish regional financial operations.

To sustain this momentum, the financial centre has proposed six groups of products and services designed to meet international standards and investor requirements. These initiatives aim to position Ho Chi Minh City as a hub for cross-border financial activities and investment management in Southeast Asia.

The success of Ho Chi Minh City's financial sector has also extended to other major cities. Da Nang has joined the international sustainable finance network, broadening Vietnam's participation in global efforts to integrate environmental and social considerations into financial decision-making. This expansion reflects Vietnam's broader commitment to developing a competitive and responsible financial ecosystem across the region.
