Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long secure record funds for poor communities

Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh Long province have mobilized substantial resources for disadvantaged communities through the 2026 'City of Compassion – Connecting Love' initiative, an art exchange programme held in the metropolis on October 17.

Organizers announced that more than 164 billion VND, equivalent to approximately 6.2 million USD, was pledged to the Ho Chi Minh City Fund for the Poor during the event. The fundraising drive reflects heightened civic engagement in addressing poverty across the southern region.

The programme combined cultural activities with philanthropic outreach, leveraging artistic exchange to promote community solidarity. Officials from both Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh Long participated in coordinating the initiative, signaling expanded inter-provincial cooperation on social welfare matters.

The funds secured through the campaign will support ongoing poverty reduction efforts and assistance programmes for low-income households. The success of this year's event is expected to inform future fundraising initiatives across the region.
