Home Ministry Awaits Official Documentation on Najib Pardon

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail disclosed that his ministry is still awaiting official correspondence containing the specifics of the conditional pardon issued to Najib Razak. Without the formal documentation, the Home Ministry cannot initiate preparatory measures required for the pardon's implementation.

Saifuddin explained that the ministry requires comprehensive details regarding the pardon's conditions and parameters before it can proceed with the necessary administrative procedures. The delay in receiving official documentation has prevented the ministry from taking any preparatory steps at this stage.

The conditional pardon, which was announced earlier, relates to Najib's conviction in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal. The former premier had been serving his sentence following his conviction on charges of abuse of power and money laundering.

The Home Ministry's request for formal documentation reflects standard administrative protocol for implementing such significant legal decisions. Officials are expected to coordinate with relevant authorities once the official letter containing pardon details is received.
