Honeywell to supply turboshaft engines to HAL ahead of schedule

Honeywell Aerospace has committed to delivering eight HTT-40 turboshaft engines to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) by December 2026, signalling progress on a significant defence sector collaboration between the American manufacturer and India's state-owned aerospace company.

The accelerated timeline represents Honeywell's confidence in meeting its contractual obligations for the initial supply of 16 engines, originally scheduled for completion by mid-2029. The engines are intended for India's light combat helicopter programme and other defence applications.

Beyond manufacturing deliveries, Honeywell is simultaneously strengthening its supply chain infrastructure in India and exploring technology transfer opportunities with HAL. These efforts align with India's broader push for defence indigenisation and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers for critical aerospace components.

The development underscores the deepening aerospace sector ties between India and the United States, particularly in military and defence applications. Honeywell's willingness to accelerate deliveries while pursuing domestic partnerships suggests confidence in India's defence manufacturing capabilities and long-term market potential.
