West Indies captain Shai Hope scored a masterful 162 not out to guide his team to a five-wicket victory over India in the third ODI, though the hosts clinched the three-match series 2-1. Hope's unbeaten 162 guides West Indies to series consolation win

Shai Hope's commanding unbeaten 162 proved the difference as West Indies overhauled India's substantial first-innings total at the venue on Saturday. The Windies captain's 21st ODI century, constructed from 143 deliveries, overshadowed a stylish 129 not out from India's KL Rahul, who had anchored the home side's innings with an 87-ball knock.

Chasing 352 for victory, West Indies demonstrated aggressive intent from the outset, accumulating 78 runs during the powerplay despite losing opener John Campbell to Mohammed Siraj's bowling. Hope, reprieved on one occasion when Gurnoor Brar grassed a chance, capitalised on the reprieve and rapidly moved to fifty off just 46 balls.

All-rounder Amir Jangoo provided valuable support in a productive partnership, contributing 67 runs from 56 deliveries with five boundaries and a six before falling to a run-out while attempting a quick second run. West Indies' successful chase of 352 marks their highest-scoring run-chase in the 50-over format, underlining the quality of the batting display.

Despite the consolation victory, India secured the series with wins in the opening two matches at Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati, claiming a 2-1 advantage in the three-match contest.
