MANILA — The House of Representatives has added a corrective provision to the P7.2-trillion budget bill to address clerical errors and inaccuracies in project blueprints and specifications, according to Bataan Representative Albert Garcia. Garcia, senior vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, said the special provision was inserted into the Department of Public Works and Highways budget to streamline the process of fixing administrative mistakes without requiring full legislative amendments.
The measure aims to prevent delays in project implementation that could result from minor technical errors in budget documents. Garcia explained that the provision grants designated government agencies the authority to make corrections to clerical mistakes and wrong project details that do not alter the fundamental nature or cost of infrastructure projects.
The corrective clause is expected to improve the efficiency of budget execution while maintaining oversight and accountability. By allowing departments to address such errors administratively, the provision could reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks that typically require legislative action to resolve documentation issues.
