MANILA – The House Appropriations Committee and its special commission of lawmakers adhered to internal parliamentary rules when reporting modifications to the 2027 national budget, Sorsogon Representative Manuel 'Wowo' Fortes Jr. said Wednesday.

Fortes, a senior member of the budget panel, stated that the committee fulfilled its obligation to submit a comprehensive public report detailing all changes made to the original spending proposal. The disclosure requirement is mandated by House parliamentary procedures governing budget deliberations.

The lawmaker's statement addresses concerns about transparency in the budget-making process, particularly regarding how the appropriations panel handled amendments during its review of the incoming administration's spending plan.

The House of Representatives is expected to approve the 2027 national budget before the legislative calendar concludes later this year. The appropriations process involves multiple stages of review and public reporting to ensure accountability in government spending allocations.
