MANILA — The House of Representatives approved the P7.2 trillion budget bill for 2027 on final reading Monday, clearing a major legislative hurdle for the government's fiscal roadmap. The chamber voted 281-13 in favor of House Bill No. 10858, with one member abstaining, sending the measure to the Senate for consideration.

The House completed its review of the spending proposal 62 days after receiving it from the Department of Budget and Management. The budget encompasses all government operations and programs for the coming year, from basic services to infrastructure and social safety nets.

With strong backing from the House, the budget bill now enters the Senate phase of the legislative process. Senators will scrutinize appropriations and priorities before the chamber votes on its own version of the measure. The two chambers will then reconcile any differences to produce a final budget agreement for presidential approval.

The robust House vote reflects broad support for the administration's fiscal priorities, though the Senate may propose modifications during its deliberations on spending allocations and policy provisions within the budget.
