Batangas Representative Gerville "Jinky" Luistro, who heads the prosecution team in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, indicated Tuesday that lawmakers have gathered documentation they are prepared to hand over to the Ombudsman's office.
Luistro stated that while the prosecution holds evidence from the trial, the panel prefers to receive an official request from the anti-corruption agency before transferring any materials. This approach would ensure proper protocol is followed in the handling of sensitive impeachment-related documents.
The House prosecutor said the proceedings panel would respond expeditiously to any formal demand for records submitted by the Ombudsman. The statement reflects coordination between legislative and executive oversight bodies as multiple investigations into the Vice President continue.
The development comes amid ongoing impeachment proceedings against Duterte, which have drawn significant political attention in the country. The transfer of evidence to other agencies could expand scrutiny of matters raised during the House trial.
