MANILA — The House of Representatives will hear evidence on Vice President Sara Duterte's purported unexplained wealth beginning Monday, with prosecutors Reps. Terry Ridon and Jose Manuel "Chel" Diokno taking the lead in mounting the case.
Ridon announced Thursday that he and Diokno would jointly oversee the presentation of evidence and legal arguments during proceedings on Article II of the impeachment complaint filed against the Vice President. The two lawmakers plan to alternate their roles throughout the proceedings to ensure comprehensive coverage of the allegations.
The unexplained wealth article represents a significant component of the broader impeachment complaint against Duterte. The proceedings mark a crucial phase in the House-led inquiry into the Vice President's financial disclosures and asset accumulation over the years.
The presentation of evidence is expected to draw scrutiny from lawmakers across party lines as the House continues its impeachment investigation into the nation's second-highest elected official.
