Houthi militants claim strikes on Saudi oil infrastructure, target Aden

The Houthi rebels declared they had successfully targeted Saudi oil sites in a fresh escalation of regional tensions. The militant group, which controls much of northern Yemen, has repeatedly launched cross-border strikes against Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure in recent years.

Yemen's internationally recognized government, backed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, reported that the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at coast guard facilities positioned in Aden. The port city in southern Yemen has become a flashpoint in the country's ongoing conflict, serving as a key location for government-aligned forces and coalition operations.

The reported attacks underline the persistent instability afflicting Yemen, where a civil war has raged since 2014. The Houthis have consistently demonstrated capability in developing and deploying ballistic missiles and drone technology, posing a significant threat to regional stability and international shipping lanes in the Arabian Sea.

Saudi Arabia has faced numerous Houthi assaults on its oil infrastructure over the past several years, disrupting global energy markets and prompting international concern. The kingdom leads a military coalition that has intervened in Yemen's conflict since 2015 in support of the government against the Houthi insurgency.
