The attack on the presidential compound in Aden, seat of Yemen's internationally recognised government, struck operational command centres used by government forces and the Saudi-led military coalition, according to officials familiar with the incident.
Five people were confirmed killed in the assault, while 16 others sustained injuries. The Houthi movement, which controls much of northern Yemen, has conducted numerous attacks against government targets in the southern port city over the course of the ongoing conflict.
Aden remains a strategic focal point in Yemen's civil war, serving as a stronghold for government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition. The city has witnessed repeated clashes and strikes as rival factions compete for control of key installations and infrastructure.
The attack underscores the continued volatility in Yemen, where years of conflict have devastated civilian infrastructure and displaced millions. The Al-Maashiq palace has been targeted previously by Houthi forces seeking to disrupt government operations and coalition military planning.
