Houthis claim responsibility for attacks on Saudi oil facilities, Riyadh airport

The Iran-aligned Houthi movement claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a series of coordinated attacks targeting critical Saudi Arabian infrastructure, including oil giant Saudi Aramco's facilities, Riyadh International Airport, and military installations.

The group's announcement marked an escalation in cross-border strikes that have intensified regional tensions. In a statement, the Houthis framed the attacks as a direct response to continued Saudi military operations and pledged to sustain their campaign against what they characterized as unjustified military aggression.

The attacks underscore the ongoing instability in the Arabian Peninsula, where the Saudi-led coalition has conducted extensive air campaigns against Houthi positions in Yemen since 2015. The militant group has progressively demonstrated enhanced strike capabilities, targeting infrastructure deep within Saudi territory.

Saudi Arabia has not immediately commented on the specific claims. However, the kingdom's defense ministry has previously acknowledged intercepting numerous drone and missile attacks, attributing them to Houthi operations backed by regional powers.

The latest incident is likely to intensify international concerns over maritime security and energy stability in the Gulf region, given the critical role Saudi oil exports play in global energy markets.
