The Houthi movement claimed responsibility for a missile strike targeting Saudi military assets in Yemen on Monday, according to reports from the Yemen News Agency. The group said it had deployed locally-manufactured missiles to strike a weapons convoy operated by the Saudi-led coalition forces.
Houthi commanders stated they had conducted surveillance operations on Saudi military camps and troop positions at Al-Wadi'ah, where they identified what they characterized as a significant concentration of weapons and military personnel. The strike was reportedly coordinated following this reconnaissance phase.
The Houthis emphasized that the missiles used in the operation were produced domestically, underscoring the group's claimed military capabilities in manufacturing weaponry. The exact extent of damage from the strike and any casualties remain unclear.
Saudi Arabia's military command has vowed to respond to the attack, maintaining its position that it will counter any threats posed by the Houthi movement. The exchange marks the latest escalation in Yemen's ongoing conflict, where the Saudi-led coalition has been engaged in military operations against the Iran-aligned Houthis since 2015.
The Houthis have previously claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on coalition forces and infrastructure in Yemen, presenting increasingly sophisticated weapons as evidence of their expanding military arsenal.
