The Iran-aligned Houthi group posted footage online Wednesday claiming to document drone strikes directed at forces loyal to Yemen's internationally recognized government, which receives military support from Saudi Arabia and a coalition of regional allies.
The video, released through Houthi-affiliated media channels, showed aerial views of what the group described as targeted positions held by government-aligned troops. However, the authenticity and scope of the attacks could not be independently verified.
The release represents the latest in a pattern of Houthi military operations against government forces and infrastructure. The group has previously demonstrated capabilities with remotely piloted aircraft and other weapons systems throughout Yemen's protracted civil conflict.
Yemen's civil war has raged since 2014, when Houthis seized control of the capital Sana'a. The subsequent Saudi-led military intervention has resulted in widespread civilian casualties and a humanitarian crisis affecting millions of Yemenis. Both sides have employed various military technologies in the ongoing conflict, though Houthi access to advanced weaponry remains limited compared to government and coalition forces.
