Houthis warn of swift retaliation if US enters Yemen conflict
A senior Houthi official has threatened immediate and painful consequences should the United States join Saudi-led military operations in Yemen. The warning comes as the Trump administration weighs military intervention following deadly attacks at an airport.

Mohammed Al Bukhaiti, a prominent Houthi spokesperson, issued the stark warning on Monday, signalling the Iran-aligned militant group's readiness to escalate hostilities should American forces become directly involved in the ongoing Yemen conflict.
The threat emerges amid deliberations within the Trump administration over potential military action following recent airport bombings that resulted in multiple fatalities. Officials in Washington are reportedly considering direct intervention to support Saudi Arabia's long-running air campaign against the Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen including the capital Sanaa.
The Houthis have previously demonstrated capability to strike regional targets, including attacks on shipping vessels and infrastructure across the Arabian Peninsula. Any US military involvement could significantly reshape the conflict dynamics and potentially draw additional international actors into the escalating tensions.
The warning represents the group's latest attempt to deter foreign intervention in Yemen's protracted civil war, which has already displaced millions and created what humanitarian organisations describe as the world's worst ongoing humanitarian crisis. The Houthis have consistently opposed external military support for the Saudi-backed Yemeni government.
