The CIPM Sri Lanka conference, held on 14 and 15 October at Colombo's Monarch Imperial hotel, examined strategies for HR leadership in an increasingly AI-driven business environment. Themed "The Human Edge in the Age of AI," the two-day gathering brought together human resources professionals, corporate leaders, and international experts to explore emerging workforce challenges and opportunities.

The inaugural session featured remarks from Dr Hans Wijayasuriya, who addressed delegates on the conference's opening day. The presence of a chief guest of his standing underscored the significance organisers attached to the dialogue on how Sri Lankan businesses can navigate technological disruption while preserving core human capabilities.

With registrations exceeding 1,200 participants from both domestic and international backgrounds, the conference reflected growing interest across the region in rethinking HR practices. The event provided a platform for professionals to exchange insights on talent management, organisational culture, and workforce development as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in corporate operations.

The conference represents a broader industry effort to equip HR practitioners with frameworks and knowledge needed to lead organisations through technological transition, ensuring that human-centred values remain central to business strategy.
