KUALA LUMPUR — Following the completion of monitoring activities by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) has shifted focus to accountability, calling on the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) to prove its effectiveness in deploying approximately RM2 billion in accumulated training levies.
The federation's call marks a transition from oversight concerns to performance expectations, emphasising that employers who contribute to the training fund deserve clear evidence of results. MEF representatives stressed that the organisation must demonstrate how collected levies have translated into measurable workforce development outcomes and skills enhancement across Malaysian industries.
The MACC's monitoring phase examined governance and compliance issues surrounding HRD Corp's management of the training levy system. Industry observers note that the completion of these investigations provides an opportunity for the corporation to refocus on its core mandate of promoting human capital development through training and skills programmes.
MEF's position reflects growing scrutiny from employer groups regarding fund utilisation and programme effectiveness. The federation has indicated it expects HRD Corp to provide transparent reporting on how training initiatives have benefited participating companies and the broader workforce, particularly in addressing skills gaps in priority sectors.
