Hung Yen Province is pursuing enhanced collaboration with South Korea across multiple strategic sectors, signaling efforts to broaden the region's international engagement beyond traditional partnerships.
The province has identified Seoul National University as a key potential partner, with discussions centered on leveraging the institution's expertise in high-priority fields. Areas of focus include artificial intelligence, information technology, engineering, biomedicine, public administration and social sciences—sectors aligned with Vietnam's broader economic development priorities.
The initiative reflects Hung Yen's growing profile as an investment destination. In the first half of this year, the province attracted 179 new investment projects, underscoring its appeal to both domestic and foreign investors. Education and technology cooperation with South Korea could further strengthen the province's capacity to support innovation-driven industries.
The provincial outreach also aligns with Vietnam's national strategy of deepening ties with South Korea. At the government level, both nations have been exploring collaboration on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and nuclear energy, positioning education partnerships as a complementary foundation for sustained bilateral cooperation.
Official negotiations on the scope and implementation of Hung Yen's South Korean partnerships are expected to advance in coming months as both sides formalize cooperation frameworks.
