Hyderabad aims to become global fintech and capital markets hub

Hyderabad is positioning itself as a destination for global financial services companies seeking to develop trading platforms and brokerage technologies, according to state IT Minister Sridhar Babu. The official underscored the region's strategic importance in the fintech ecosystem during the launch of American financial services firm Charles Schwab's new 3.45 lakh square feet Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the city.

The facility represents a significant investment in the state's growing technology corridor, which has already attracted major international players across sectors including software development, artificial intelligence, and digital services. Hyderabad has emerged as a preferred location for multinational corporations establishing research and development and back-office operations over the past two decades.

Telangana's government has identified capital markets technology and wealth management as growth sectors aligned with India's broader digital transformation agenda. The state's infrastructure, skilled workforce, and business-friendly policies have made it an attractive destination for companies looking to expand their global operations.

Charles Schwab's investment signals growing confidence among international financial services providers in India's technology talent pool and operational capabilities. The GCC will focus on developing trading platforms, market data systems, and other technology solutions serving the firm's global customer base.

The state government continues to pursue initiatives aimed at establishing Hyderabad as a leading hub for fintech innovation and capital markets infrastructure development.
