Hyderabad authority mortgages land to fund ₹10,000 crore infrastructure push

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has mortgaged 10 land parcels to raise ₹10,000 crore for critical infrastructure projects, marking a significant financing initiative for the city's transport network expansion.

The funds will support construction of two greenfield radial roads and two elevated corridors across Hyderabad. The first radial road will connect the Raviryal exit of the Outer Ring Road to Amangal, while the second will link Shamshabad to Pargi. Additionally, the authority will develop elevated corridors on National Highway 44 and State Highway 01.

These infrastructure projects are designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity across Hyderabad's expanding metropolitan area. The radial roads will provide alternative routes to decongest existing thoroughfares, while the elevated corridors on major highways aim to streamline traffic flow through high-density corridors.

The financing arrangement reflects HMDA's strategy to leverage its land assets for infrastructure development without immediate budget allocation constraints. This approach enables the authority to advance critical transportation projects that support the city's growth trajectory and economic development objectives.

The projects form part of broader efforts to enhance Hyderabad's infrastructure capacity as the city continues to expand as a major tech and business hub in India.
