Hyderabad Court Sentences Madrasa Teacher to Life for Child Sexual Abuse

A fast-track court in Ranga Reddy district has handed down a life sentence to Mohammad Munawwar Hussain, a 30-year-old madrasa teacher, for the sexual exploitation of a minor student. The court imposed the maximum punishment under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code following the child's disclosure of the abuse to his mother.

The victim, a 13-year-old boy, came forward and narrated his ordeal to his mother, who immediately reported the matter to the Phari Sharif police station. The case was registered based on her complaint, triggering an investigation that led to the teacher's arrest and subsequent prosecution.

Beyond the life sentence, the court levied a fine of ₹25,500 against Hussain and ordered him to pay ₹2 lakh in compensation to the victim. The monetary award aims to provide some support to the child for the trauma and harm suffered during the abuse.

The conviction underscores renewed focus on safeguarding children in educational institutions across the region. Child protection advocates have emphasized the importance of creating safe reporting mechanisms and awareness campaigns to encourage victims to come forward.
