Hyderabad's traffic infrastructure came under severe strain on Wednesday as incessant rainfall coincided with the annual Ganesh immersion processions, leaving key arterial roads submerged and commuters stranded. The combination of weather-related disruptions and festival-season congestion created bottlenecks across the city, affecting both private and public transport operations.

Low-lying areas and underpasses became particularly problematic, with water accumulation forcing authorities to restrict vehicle movement on several routes. Commuters reported delays exceeding two hours on commonly used corridors, with peak immersion activities drawing large crowds to temples and water bodies designated for the ritual.

Police traffic management teams were deployed at critical junctions to regulate vehicle flow and assist stranded motorists. Civic authorities urged residents to exercise caution while traversing waterlogged stretches and to postpone non-essential travel where feasible.

The convergence of monsoon weather patterns and religious festivities highlighted ongoing concerns about Hyderabad's drainage infrastructure. Municipal officials indicated that remedial measures to prevent such disruptions during future celebrations would be prioritised.
