Traffic restrictions will come into effect in Hyderabad from October 21 as devotees prepare for the immersion of Durga idols at Hussain Sagar, one of the city's major religious and cultural events. The curbs will remain in place until 6 a.m. on October 24, with authorities implementing measures to regulate vehicle movement around the lake and adjoining areas.
Hyderabad Traffic Police have identified 11 key traffic junctions where significant congestion is anticipated during the three-day period. The restrictions will be imposed on a need basis, with police monitoring traffic flow in real time to prevent bottlenecks and ensure public safety during the massive gathering of devotees.
"Commuters are advised to plan their journeys with alternate routes in mind, particularly during peak traffic hours," a police statement indicated. The advisory suggests avoiding the Hussain Sagar vicinity where possible and using peripheral roads to minimize travel disruption.
The immersion festival draws large crowds to the lake, making traffic management a critical component of the law enforcement response. Authorities have coordinated with civic agencies to ensure smooth passage for emergency vehicles while facilitating the ceremonial processions that accompany the idol immersions.
