Hyderabad in talks to host University of London international campus

The Chief Minister of Telangana has engaged in preliminary talks with representatives from the University of London regarding the establishment of an international campus in Hyderabad. The discussions form part of broader efforts to attract premier educational institutions to the state capital.

University of London, one of Britain's oldest and most prestigious institutions, is actively exploring the possibility of setting up a campus in the city. The development would provide students across South Asia greater access to the university's globally recognised degree programmes and academic credentials.

Parallel discussions are also underway with Cambridge University, underlining Hyderabad's ambitions to position itself as a destination for world-class education. Such campuses would complement the city's existing academic infrastructure and attract international scholars to the region.

The state government has identified education as a key sector for development and economic growth. The establishment of foreign university campuses would generate employment opportunities, encourage research collaborations, and enhance Hyderabad's profile as a knowledge economy centre.

Formal agreements and regulatory approvals from India's higher education authorities would be necessary before either institution could commence operations in Hyderabad.
