Authorities in Hyderabad have arrested eight individuals in connection with a human trafficking operation targeting a minor girl, police said on Thursday. Investigators found that the primary accused purchased the victim for approximately 30,000 rupees and subsequently exploited her through forced commercial sexual activity.
The investigation revealed a coordinated trafficking scheme in which the accused transported the minor using an auto-rickshaw to facilitate the illegal operations. Law enforcement officers recovered six mobile phones and the vehicle used in the crime during raids conducted as part of the inquiry.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about organized human trafficking networks in major Indian cities. Police have registered charges against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Authorities said the minor has been placed under protective custody and referred to support services.
The investigation is continuing to determine the full scope of the operation and identify any additional victims or perpetrators involved in the trafficking network.
