The inaugural Extreme H off-road World Cup series, which was scheduled to launch in Saudi Arabia this weekend, has been rescheduled for 2027. The FIA and event organisers announced the postponement on Tuesday.

The hydrogen-powered motorsport initiative, backed by the sport's governing body the FIA, will not proceed with its planned debut in the coming days. Both the FIA and race organisers cited unspecified reasons for pushing the event back by more than two years.
Extreme H represents an ambitious foray into alternative fuel racing, positioning hydrogen-powered vehicles as an environmentally conscious alternative to conventional fuel sources in motorsport. The off-road World Cup format was intended to showcase the viability of hydrogen technology in demanding racing conditions.
The championship's relocation to 2027 allows organisers additional time to prepare infrastructure and ensure competitive readiness for the inaugural season. The postponement does not diminish the FIA's commitment to advancing sustainable motorsport technologies, though specific details regarding the rescheduled event remain pending.
No statement has been released regarding whether the championship will maintain Saudi Arabia as its launch venue or if alternative locations are under consideration for the 2027 debut.
