KUALA LUMPUR — Obstacle course racing event Hyrox Malaysia has acknowledged missteps in its sponsorship arrangement and confirmed the partnership with Carlsberg will conclude without renewal.
The decision comes following feedback from participants and stakeholders regarding the alignment between the fitness-focused event and the alcoholic beverage brand. Organisers said the partnership does not reflect the values and objectives of the race series.
Hyrox Malaysia said in a statement that it recognises the concerns raised by the community and takes responsibility for the decision. The operator emphasised its commitment to selecting partners whose values align with the health and wellness focus of the obstacle course racing format.
The Kuala Lumpur leg of the international Hyrox series remains scheduled to proceed as planned. Organisers indicated they are exploring alternative sponsorship opportunities that better complement the event's positioning and participant expectations.
Hyrox, which combines running with obstacle challenges, has expanded across multiple Asian markets in recent years. The Malaysia event forms part of a broader regional expansion strategy for the German-founded racing series.
