Hyundai Motor India has set an ambitious sales target of at least 2.5 lakh units annually from its Creta and newly launched Bayon models, positioning itself to maintain dominance in the mid-size SUV category. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Tarun Garg stated that the combined volume target represents a strategic baseline rather than a ceiling for growth, signalling the company's confidence in expanding its market share further.
The mid-size utility vehicle segment, encompassing vehicles between 4 and 4.4 metres in length, recorded approximately 9 lakh unit sales in the last financial year, according to data from the Society of India Automobile Manufacturers. The category includes both SUVs and multi-purpose vehicles, making it one of the fastest-growing segments in the Indian automotive market.
Hyundai has already established a strong foothold in this space, with the Creta model alone generating close to 2 lakh units in annual sales over the past two financial years. The mid-size segment currently accounts for approximately 35 per cent of the company's total domestic sales, underscoring its importance to Hyundai's growth strategy in India's competitive passenger vehicle market.
