IAF Deputy Chief Says Tejas Mk1A Induction Within One-Two Months

The Indian Air Force's deputy chief has signalled that the LCA Tejas Mark 1A variant is on track for induction within one to two months, following resolution of critical engine supply issues that had previously delayed the programme.

The official stated that engine shortages, which had posed a significant bottleneck for the fighter jet's production schedule, have now been addressed. Testing and evaluation of the aircraft continue as planned, with no major technical hurdles reported.

Once remaining technical and administrative issues are resolved over the coming weeks, the Tejas Mk1A is expected to receive formal clearance for integration into IAF operations. The announcement represents another milestone for India's decades-long effort to develop an indigenous combat aircraft capability.

The Tejas programme has faced multiple delays since its inception in the 1980s. The Mark 1A variant represents an upgraded version of the original Tejas design, featuring enhanced avionics, improved aerodynamics, and better operational capabilities compared to its predecessor.

The induction of the Tejas Mk1A is expected to bolster the IAF's fighter fleet at a time when the service continues modernising its force structure to meet contemporary air defence requirements in the region.
