IAF must maintain round-the-clock readiness, says Air Chief Dixit

Air Chief Marshal Dixit has underscored the imperative for the Indian Air Force to maintain heightened operational readiness at all times, with every squadron, air defence unit, and air warrior prepared to respond instantaneously to emerging threats.

Addressing the force, the Air Chief articulated his strategic vision through the acronym VAYU, which encapsulates four core pillars guiding IAF operations and modernization efforts. The framework encompasses Vigilance and operational readiness as its foundational element, ensuring the service maintains constant preparedness in an evolving security environment.

Aatmanirbharta, or self-reliance, forms the second pillar of the Air Chief's vision, reflecting India's broader strategic thrust toward indigenous defence capabilities and reduced dependence on external suppliers. Yukti, denoting tactical innovation, represents the third element, emphasizing the need for adaptive strategies and modernized operational doctrines to address contemporary and emerging aerial threats.

Unity of effort across the tri-services constitutes the fourth pillar, underscoring the importance of seamless coordination between the Air Force, Army, and Navy for integrated national defence. This emphasis on joint operations reflects evolving military doctrine that prioritizes synchronized responses to complex security challenges.

The Air Chief's articulation of these strategic priorities signals the IAF's commitment to enhancing operational effectiveness while strengthening India's indigenous defence industrial base and fostering inter-service synergy.
