Dr. Prashakha Mathur, an IPS officer, has been placed under APO (Attached to Police Office) by Rajasthan authorities in connection with an investigation into her family's real estate transactions. The development marks an escalation in official action against the couple, following earlier measures taken against her husband, IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal.
The case centres on the family's purchase of 40 villa-cottage units across Udaipur and Alwar districts over a two-and-a-half-year period. According to investigation records, the properties were acquired for Rs 6.16 crore during this timeframe, raising concerns about the source and nature of the transactions.
Further complicating the matter, the same properties were subsequently leased back to a company at an annual rental of Rs 1.80 crore. Authorities are examining the legitimacy of these transactions and their financial arrangements, including questions about how the family funded the initial acquisitions and the terms under which the properties were leased.
The APO placement of Dr. Mathur effectively suspends her from regular police duties pending the outcome of the investigation. The case has drawn considerable attention in Rajasthan's administrative circles, given the senior positions held by both officers in state government service.
