IAS Officer Sajjan Singh Yadav Appointed New Jammu & Kashmir Chief Secretary

Sajjan Singh Yadav, a senior Indian Administrative Service officer, has been appointed as the next chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, according to official sources. He will assume office following the retirement of incumbent Atal Dulloo, whose tenure concludes on October 31, 2026.

Yadav's appointment marks a significant administrative transition for the Union Territory, which has witnessed considerable reorganization since its bifurcation from Jammu and Kashmir state in August 2019. The chief secretary serves as the principal administrative head of the UT and oversees the implementation of government policies and programs across various departments.

As chief secretary, Yadav will be responsible for coordinating between the central government and the UT administration on matters of governance, development, and security. The position carries substantial responsibility given the Union Territory's strategic importance and complex administrative structure.

Dulloo has served in the chief secretarial role during a period of institutional consolidation following the constitutional reorganization of the former state. His successor will inherit ongoing administrative frameworks and developmental initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir's multiple regions.
