IDFC First Bank has completed its maiden foray into international debt markets with a $500 million bond issuance that drew strong demand from global institutional investors. The offering, conducted through the bank's IFSC Banking Unit at GIFT City in Gujarat, represents a significant milestone in the lender's capital-raising strategy and international expansion efforts.

The three-year bonds were issued at a fixed coupon of 5.625 per cent and placed with investors outside the United States in Regulation S format. The successful transaction was anchored by several leading global institutional investors, with BlackRock, Capital Group and AllianceBernstein among the prominent names participating in the offering.

S&P Global Ratings assigned a 'BBB-' long-term issuer credit rating with a stable outlook to the bond issuance, signalling confidence in the bank's creditworthiness. The rating agency's assessment reflects IDFC First Bank's financial stability and operational track record.

According to the bank, the strong investor participation underscores market confidence in its financial strength, expanding business franchise, risk management practices and long-term growth prospects. The transaction opens new avenues for the bank to diversify its funding sources and strengthen its balance sheet as it pursues its strategic objectives in India's competitive banking sector.
